A 23 year old waakye seller at Mataheko a suburb of Accra, Charity Woode, has emerged winner of the first episode of a sing along competition on radio gold last week Sunday 5th May, 2019.
The contestants for the first episode includes, Ishmael Arkoh, an upcoming artist from Kasoa, Doreen McClean, a hairdresser at Kaneshie and reside at James Town in Accra contest fearlessly in a highly tensed competition since they are all new to live radio program.
The program which was hosted by Patrick Asford Boadu (MR. PAB) on Sika Futro allows listeners to call on the program and sing along to a particular song selected by the presenter and if the presenter is satisfied with the performance of the caller, he or she is invited to the studio to battle it out with other selected callers who also had the opportunity to sing.
The three contestants sang a beautiful and popular song composed by Bless featuring Kofi Kinaata titled CHOCHO MUCHO
There are three rounds in the competition. The first round is to sing along with the original song, then with instrumentals and finally contestants are made to select their own favorite local Ghanaian song and sing.
At the end of the competition, almost 100 callers called and voted for their preferred contestants and Ishmael Arkoh from Kasoa had 7 votes, Doreen McClean had 22 votes and the waakye seller Charity Woode the winner had 53 votes.
Miss Woode would have to wait until the end of the second and third episodes and compete for the grand finale after two other winners have been selection from the subsequent editions on The Sika Futro program on Radio Gold, your power station.
