Construction work of Jamestown fishing port complex to begin in July – Minister.

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Mrs. Elizabeth Naa Afoley Quaye has disclosed that the much talked about Jamestown Fishing Port Complex will begin in July 2019.

According to her the preparatory works which include the drafting of architecture design and land survey has been completed making way for main construction work begin in July 2019.

The project which is being financed with US50 grant from the China will be in three phases, dredging the basin and shipping channels, the construction of 1,200meter hydraulic structures, and the construction of administration, production and supporting facilities.

Speaking at the meet the press series, the minister said the project when completed would create about 1,000 jobs opportunity as well as enhance the productivity of the fishers in the area.
