The Chief Executive Officer of Ameri Energy, Maher Al Alili, the company in the controversial Novation or Renegotiation Agreement of the Ameri Power deal says the company has never been involved in any kind of negotiations or discussions related to this novation and agreement.
According to the CEO, in a letter to the Minister of Energy, Boakye Agarko dated 31st July, 2018 indicates that they were given the impressions by the new party that all the permits, permissions and requisite approvals from stakeholders ie (Ministry of Finance, Attorney – General’s office, VRA, PURC) have been obtained before presenting this amended draft to cabinet and the president for its approval.
Some civil society groups, policy advocacy and tink tanks including, the Africa Centre for energy Policy, (ACEP). Institute of Energy Security (IES) Chamber of Petroleum consumers (COPEC) and ASEPA has kicked against the new deal. According to them the Ameri deal was just one of the many stinking agreements that government had wanted to force its way through and put some money in some individual’s pockets for absolutely no work done and at the dire detriment of this country.
The President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo initially appended his signature to approve the deal but in a sharp U – TURN indicated that he was misled to issue an executive approval for this supposed novated agreement which was meant to swindle the country off some 1billion dollars.
